Peter Acton

ACTON, Peter - April 6, 1930 - September 11, 2005 Peter passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the age of 75. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Bridie; beloved children, Carmen Marie (Jandura), Peter Jr., and Patrick; beloved granddaughter Nicole; son-in-law, Frank Jandura; daughters-in-law, Inge and Marta; siblings, Adrian, Michael, Christopher and Sister Rosaria. Born in Clifden, Co. Galway, Ireland, Peter arrived in San Francisco in 1957. He worked for the City of San Francisco for 10 years before becoming a general building contractor. Peter enjoyed great success in the building industry, having constructed numerous homes and apartment buildings throughout the Bay Area. He was a member of the United Irish Cultural Center and the Fraternal Order of Elks. Peter enjoyed spending time at Clearlake in the vacation home he shared with Bridie. He loved taking family and friends boating during the day and dancing or playing cards at night. His keen sense of humor and storytelling will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Friends are invited to a Celebration of Peter's life with Visitation Thursday from 5-9pm, and a Rosary Service Thursday 7:00pm at DUGGAN'S SERRA MORTUARY, 500 Westlake Ave., D.C. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, 11:30am at St. Cecilia Church, 17th Ave. & Vicente, SF. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. James Catholic Church, 125 Sonoma Mountain Parkway, Petaluma CA 94954.
