Peter Fazio Obituary

Peter Sal Fazio
10/05/1937 - 10/15/2024
Peter (Pete) Sal Fazio passed away unexpectedly, on October 15, 2024, at his home in San Francisco, Calif. He had just celebrated his 87th birthday on October 5, 2024. Our family is deeply depressed and shocked by his sudden death. Peter was born on October 5, 1937.
Peter is survived and missed by his loving and devoted wife, Shari Anne Fazio for 61 years; and his children, Joe and Elyn, Eric and Kathy, and Nina and Jesse; forever cherished and remembered by his eight grandchildren, Samantha, Sebastian, Fabian, Katrina, Justin, Joey, Mikayla, and Eric; siblings and their families, Rose Rinaldi, Carmela Gouveia.
His memory lives on with his nieces and nephews, Maria Thresa and John, Charles and Marie, Stephania and Mark, Christine and Jesus; and, on his wife's side, James Ericson
Peter was predeceased by his father, Giuseppe; his mother, Angelina; and his infant sister; along with his brothers in-law, Thomas Gouveia and Salvatore Rinaldi.
He was also predeceased by his in-laws, Jean and Bruce Bryant, Pauline and Harrold Murphy; and brother in-law, Patrick Murphy.
He was born in Verbicaro, Italy and left for the United States in 1952, at the age of 15. He grew up in San Francisco. He attended Saint Bridgit's Catholic Grammer School, and then attended Galileo High School. Over the course of the following give years, he helped facilitate
his immediate family to also immigrate to the United States and on to San Francisco. He then, along with many of his friends, joined the National Guard and served for six years on a Nile Missile Base off the coast of San Francisco. Some of his greatest joy came from his three children and his eight grandchildren. Peter and his family created many memories while enjoying family trips to Italy, and to his other home and vineyard in Sonoma.
He took an active role in the lives of his family by teaching all of his children and grandchildren how to live an honest working life, always sharing advice on life skills, and caring for all of them equally. He loved business and owned a grocery store with his partner, Tony Nola, for 35 years. He was an avid bowler and was on many leagues in the San Francisco Bay Area. He also loved to grow fruit, vegetables and, in 1999, began producing his own wine with his own label.
Peter had many other professions throughout his life up until the day he passed away. He was involved highly in real-estate acquisitions and sales, stock market trading, and became a restaurateur in 2015 with the opening of six Italian restaurants in San Francisco. The final and greatest achievement for him was the purchase and re-opening of The North Beach Restaurant, an iconic San Francisco landmark.
Peter was never scared to take on new opportunities, and did everything with honesty and integrity. He had very strong values and was well liked by everyone, mostly due to his positive energy. Peter always made time to help others. He would say it all comes back to us.
His legacy will carry on forever in his friends and family reminding us that we control our attitudes.
Friends and family may visit at 4:00 p.m., with The Rosary at 6:30 p.m., on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave., Daly City. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at St. Brendan Catholic Church, 29 Rockaway Ave., San Francisco. My Condolences to the Fazio Family. I have bowled and known Pete for the last one and one half years, bowling senior league (Spirit of 88) at Classic Bowling Center in Daly City. Pete was a fierce competitor on the lanes and a gentleman with a heart of pure gold! He was always happy and positive. Pete received many awards in our league. We finished our 6th week of a 33 week league, on 10-8 Pete rolled a first game of 118, a second game of 150 and a third game of 190. Pete's team is called Wesley Crushers. Pete's book average of 157 is excellent. Rest In Peace Buddy. Pete is in Heaven with Almighty God. I will always have a special place in my heart for Pete my Paisano amico cattivo. / Ray Louie
