Peter Granero Obituary

Peter C. Granero Born November 1, 1925, All Saints Day, in San Francisco to Carlos and Tina Granero. Passed away peacefully at his home in Sonoma, June 29, 2006 at the age of 80. His family was at his side. A native of San Francisco, Peter graduated from Saint James Catholic High School in 1943 and entered the U.S. Army. After his discharge, he met and married Colleen Gentry to whom he was married for 53 years. They retired and moved to Sonoma in 1992. Peter is survived by his wife Colleen; daughters, Lorie Granero of Redwood City, Christina Granero, Colleen (Brad) Ramirez of Sonoma, Lisa (Ben) Baldonado of San Bruno, Maggie Granero (Brian Jarnutowski) of San Francisco; son, Peter B. Granero; and a sister, Mary (David) Mitchell of San Carlos. His grandchildren include Ramon and Nina Baldonado, Katie Fitzgerald, Bradley Trees and Jazmine Ramirez, Duncan and Angelina Granero, Alexander and Lana Jarnutowski and great-granddaughter, Layla Collins. He was uncle to Diane, Marie and Michael Mitchell of the Bay Area. Peter belonged to the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous where he was a member for 30 years, helping and sponsoring many newcomers to the program as well as caring and sharing with other members on a regular basis. Friends are invited to attend a Rosary on Thursday, July 6, 2006 at 7:00pm at Duggan's Mission Chapel, 525 West Napa Street, Sonoma, CA. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, July 7, 2006 at 11:00am at St Francis Solano Church, 469 Third Street West, (and West Napa Street) Sonoma. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in his name to: Valley of the Moon Team of Hospice of Marin, 190 West Napa St., Sonoma, CA 95476 or the Boys & Girls Club of Valley of the Moon. and loving man and will be sorely missed by many people.
