Peter Livanos Obituary

Peter E. Livanos, Jr. Died suddenly on Monday, January 23, 2006. Mr. Livanos was a prominent attorney in Castro Valley, a community leader and a long time resident of the area. Peter was born in Oakland, CA, on October 24, 1937 to Peter E. Livanos and Helen Beeson Livanos. He had three sisters. He grew up in Hayward and Castro Valley, attended Hayward High School, graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, and Hastings Law School, San Francisco. He served in the U.S. Army as a captain in the Judge Advocate General's Office from 1963-1965. Peter was married to Gayle Jones in 1961. Together they have three sons, Peter E. Livanos III, Michael Livanos and Christopher Livanos. In 1994 Peter and Carren Linn-Downs became loving companions and remained so until his unexpected death this week. He was a lifelong gardener who created many exquisite gardens, the beauty of which will live on. In the last few years, he spent time in Calaveras County which had become like a second home. Additionally, he was a proud Native Son of the Golden West. Peter is survived by Carren Linn-Downs; sons, Peter E. Livanos III (Caroline), Michael Livanos, Christopher Livanos (Michelle), Christopher Linn (Michelle), Julie Linn-Strait (Anthony), Paul Linn, William Lorenzo, Mary Elizabeth Linn Corsa (Peter). Sisters, Eugenia Lester (Ken), Kathy Jones (Don) and Nickia Cleaves. He had eight beloved grandchildren: Peter Bennett Livanos, Taylor Linn, Morgan Linn, Kalen Strait, Logan Strait, Lauren Corsa, Conner Corsa, Jillian Corsa. He was a greatly loved, admired and respected man who will be missed beyond measure. Visitation will be from 6:00-9:00 p.m. on Friday, January 27 at Graham-Hitch Mortuary, 4167 First Street, Pleasanton. A Memorial will be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, January 28 at 11:00 a.m. at the Orthodox Church of the Resurrection located at 20104 Center Street, Castro Valley. Reception and luncheon following. Donations are being accepted to create a Memory Garden in honor of Peter Livanos. c/o Law Offices of Peter Livanos, 20235 Redwood Rd, Castro Valley, 94546.

So sorry to know of the passing

of Peter Livanos, Jr. Pete and I

served together in the Castro Valley Lions Club for many years. He was a great leader and the father of a fine family. My deepest sympathy to them.
