Raymond A. Celeste San Francisco native, born August 26, 1943, passed away on January 13, 2007. Beloved son of Stella Celeste and the late Joseph Celeste; loving husband of Pati Celeste; cherished father of Gina Barber (Kenny), Mike Celeste (Laura), Kori Celeste; devoted grandfather of Gianna and Dean Barber, Isabella Celeste; caring stepfather of Shandi Bonner (Kory) and Michael Thompson; dear brother of Bob Celeste (Judy) and the late Joe Celeste; special uncle to Dave Celeste (Corrie) and Ryan Celeste (Di-onn). Ray served in Millbrae's Police Department as a policeman for over 30 years where he formed many long and lasting friendships. Recently he began working with his son, Mike, training at the Police Academy, a job he truly enjoyed. He was very proud of his children and loved his family dearly. To meet Ray, was the opportunity to be a recipient of his wit, charm and personality. He was one-of-a-kind and will be greatly missed by all. A service to remember and celebrate Ray's life will be held Wednesday, January 17th 11:00 a.m. at St. Dunstans Church, 1133 Broadway, Milbrae. Reception to follow at the Bertetta residence. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Joseph's Family Center, 7950 Church St., Gilroy, CA 95020. Arrangements by Habing Family, Gilroy.

Dear Mike and Family;
We were so very sorry to learn of your Dad's passing. He was an amazing man, always smiling and had the best personality...it never mattered how much time passed between visiting with him, he always acted as if it had just been the day before rather than years.

I was very saddened by the news of the passing of Sgt. Celeste. I met him in 1999, when I started work with Millbrae PD. Sgt Celeste showed me kindness, humor, and was very instrumental in guiding me, while new at the job. I found him to be a wonderful sergeant and a truly great man. You will be sorely missed, Sarge! Rest in peace, and God bless you and your family.

We are so sorry for your loss. Being best friends with Gina for 27 years, and spending much time in eachothers houses, poor Ray was subjected to all our teen madness!!! I could just see his face now, as we would be running out the door for a girls night out. He'd be shaking his head with a big smile on his face, always knowing what we were up to. I have great memories of him on my frequent trips with the Celeste family up to Tahoe. Knowing "Gina's dad" was in the Millbrae police department kept many of us from getting into too much trouble for fear of being caught, thanks Ray! You were a character, you will be missed.
