RENO FORNER Obituary

Reno Forner At rest on April 5, surrounded by his family at the age of 88. Born in Algoma, Oregon, he is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Nelda (nee Cadona); his loving children Bruno, Judy (Bill Woody), Edward (Barbara), & Tina (Dave Mondani); his adored granddaughters Andrea (Tony Gerome), Rachel (Russ Sporleder), Laura Forner, Katie Woody, Lisa Forner, Allison & Nicole Mondani; his cherished great-granddaughters Emma and Chloe Gerome. He was the last surviving sibling, predeceased by John, Pete, Guido, & Rose. At the age of 6, Reno and his brothers were sent to Monfumo, Italy. He was proud to have served the Italian Army-Alpini Corps in WWII. Reno and Nelda grew up together, they married, and later settled in SF in 1950. He was a Cement Mason who retired from the SF Dept. of Public Works in 1988. He also worked as a ticket taker for the SF Giants and 49ers. Reno enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing bocce ball for many years at the Crocker-Amazon Park, working in his garden, woodworking, and picking mushrooms. His greatest joy was being with his family and his wife's cooking. The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Frank Tortorice and Dr. Felix Millhouse. Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday after 3:00PM and are invited to the Vigil Service also on Monday at 7:00PM, all at the chapels of Valente Marini Perata & Co., 4840 Mission St., SF. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00AM at St. Paul of the Shipwreck Catholic Church, 1122 Jamestown Ave., SF. Committal to follow at the Italian Cemetery in Colma. The family requests that Memorial Donations be made in Reno's name to St. Paul of the Shipwreck Catholic Church.

My dad was very lucky to work with you. And I will never forget your kindness when we fished in San Pablo or your taking my tickets at the Gate at AT&T Park.

I remember your dad and mom always stopping by to say hello to my parents and to compliment my mom on her garden. Wonderful neighbors...and good memories that still make me smile. Love and prayers.

I look back fondly at my childhood on Wheeler Avenue and the many families I got to know. May your memories of Reno (aka Dad) bring you comfort in this time of sorrow.
Sincerely, Sharon Solorio (Larson)

We will greatly miss Reno. What a pleasure it was to share stories and speak Italian. He made us many wooden items and we will think of him everytime we see his wooden mushrooms or use his hand made spoons. He showed us how to make the best sausages and he mastered his fruit grappa. A very calm gentleman who always told me " It's OK" or when worry was in the air " It doesn't matter" We will miss you.
