Hey man. We had little birthday dinner last night for you. Waci made lumpia. I remember that time Mike and I house sat for you and Waci. Your mom and aunt had been in town the week or so before and made you guys a freezer full of lumpia. I remember Waci used to get annoyed with us because we couldn't pronounce lumpia right, and we made up a fake for it just to push her buttons. We ended up living off all that frozen lumpia while we stayed there. It was good to eat it again. Miss ya man.

28! I loved those pictures your mother sent with your bushy baby hair! remember you tried to hide them and I put them all on the fridge? lol! I asked what you wanted to eat for your day.. always the same pizza and beer. Today I'm gonna make some Japanese style curry with brown rice, lumpia, roasted young coconut milk and feed all your friends. We gonna have some sort of cream cheese berry cake, mango and screen a movie, The Big Lebowski, your favorite! We all miss you a lot. I pray you are at peace. Be Happy Ruben! <3

It felt like the separating of velcro
the placenta detaching from the wall of the uterus
1 hour of labor
doctor barely has time to scrub before catching you
Such a pretty, healthy baby
“Lucky 7-11” the nurse proclaims
Dad & I are in awe of such perfect features
Hair that sticks up all over your head
brown at the roots, then red, with blond split ends
Auntie calls it 'a ray of sunshine surrounding your face'
Others claim you look identical to your Dad
'A chip off the old block'
Always preferring nicknames, Dad calls you 'Chip'
Upon meeting you, Donnie, Brandon, and Jasmine adore you
Later Ian and Kierin and many others will admire you
I thank God for bringing you into our lives 28 years ago
So anxious to come into the world
I should have known you would be just as anxious to leave
I pray your spirit is at peace soaring above us
like that of the Hawk who comes to visit

Just want you to know we have not "forbout" you....never will. We have fond memories of celebrating Easter and your birthday together which you called "My Easter".
We miss you terribly this first Easter without you but, will keep these good memories of Easters past with you in our hearts forever.

It is very unfortunate to loose such a good spirited friend. I grew up with Reuben throughout Elementary School and Middle School. I will cherish our childhood memories forever. My heartfelt condolences go out to the Santos family. Reuben, May you rest in paradise. "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." (Matthew 5:4)

I happened to be reading an obituary of a friend that I just loss and I saw this lovely young man's picture.I am so so very sorry for your great loss. Chip was truly a warrior and a hero. How lucky you are to have a son/brother like him. I am sure that your hearts are broken, but there is a special place for men like him in heaven. May God Bless you All! A Friend/

I hope your family finds this, and that they know of the immense influence you've had on my childhood and ultimately my life. Your insight, friendship, and wit kept me together and transformed me into a better version of myself. I have struggled to find friends as good as you and others i have left behind from my youth. I loved "Chip" so much and we will miss him more than words can express. I am grateful to have this old soul as my nephew. He, his brothers and Jasmine Dawnetta are so close. Let's pray for those of us he leaves behind to remain strong and rejoice in our blessings.

Our hearts feel as though a cold wind has blown through them, taking a part of us with Rueben. We are devasted. We are crushed from our grief, because we loved Rueben, he was a member of our family
Although we are overwhelmed with many feelings at this time, we desire to share a tradition of our Lakota culture, to honor Ruben Santos before we say our goodbye to him.
In our Lakota tradition, we the family of Waci Lone Hill, wish to present Ruben Santos with an eagle feather. This is for the service to his country in the Armed Forces. We wish to honor Rueben before he goes to the creator.
Rueben Santos earned this feather representing the Yakima Nation as a highly repected warrior through service to the United States of America and its people. Rueben Santos was a war hero, living among enemy, engaging in the rituals of war, and returing home a veteran soldier; a true Akicita warrior.
Rueben was a protector of all people; family, friends, and all the people of the United States of America.
We thought so much of Rueben, he was our dear friend. We are going to miss Rueben. We cannot express how much or what words would be adequate. Again, we are devastated and we will never forget Rueben. We enjoyed Rueben's company and looked forward to his visits so much. Again, we are very thankful to have known Rueben and are sad beyond words to lose such a dear friend.
Our family will include your family in our prayers for a very long time to come.
