Richard Angelo Battaglia
Entered into rest on November 25, 2012 at the age of 79. Beloved Husband of Betty A. Battaglia for 54 years. Loving father of Lori (Richard) Herndon, Gina (Ed) Serrata, Gary (Laura) Battaglia and David (Robyn) Battaglia. Grandchildren that he loved and enjoyed so much Jennifer, Nick, Chris, Jon, Sydney, Kate, Jack and Angelina. Brother of Ronald (Carolyn) Battaglia and the late Linda (Barry) Beal. A native San Franciscan, who was raised in the North Beach area of San Francisco. Graduate of Galileo High School and Graduate of San Francisco State University. Veteran of the US Army. Past Chairman of Personnel Board of South San Francisco, Member of the Colma Creek Flood Control Advisory Board of San Mateo County, Past Chairmen of the South San Francisco Housing Authority, Member of the Board of Behavioral Science Examiners for the State of California, Member of the Board of Directors for the Salesian Boys' and Girls' Club and also the Man of the Year in 2001, Past Member of the St. Veronica's Church Parish Council, Eucharistic Minister, Past Treasurer and member of the YMI Council #32, Member of the Italian American Citizens Club of So. SF, Member of the Peninsula Italian American Social Club, Past Member of the San Francisco Italian Athletic Club, Past President of the Italian Athletic Building Assoc., Councilman & Mayor of South San Francisco and presently the City Treasurer of South San Francisco. A Special Thank You to Sam Bonnano, John Zuffo, Frank Battaglia, Leslie Augero and Philip Remollo for their friendship, kindness and support during the final stages of his illness.
Friends may visit between 3-5pm, Thurs., Nov. 29th at Garden Chapel, 885 El Camino Real, So. SF and again at St. Veronica Church, 434 Alida Way, So. SF between 6-6:45PM where a Vigil Service will be offered at 7pm. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Fri., Nov. 30th at 12noon St. Veronica Church. Contribution may be made in memory of Richard Angelo Battaglia to the Salesian Boys' and Girls' Club, 666 Filbert St., San Francisco, CA 94133-2805. Committal Holy Cross Cemetery.
