Richard Dragovich Obituary

Richard Dragovich

Jan 24,1947 - July 28, 2017

Richard Dragovich passed away in his sleep on Friday July 28 in Yosemite at the age of 70 while in the company of his loving wife. He is survived by his wife Sue Dragovich, daughter Kelli Dragovich, son Michael Dragovich, and grandchildren Reese and Jack Moronez-Dragovich.

Rich was born in San Francisco and was a lifelong resident of the Bay Area. He was well known for his many hobbies and talents including real estate development, fishing, restoring old cars, rollerblading in the hills of SF, building and flying model airplanes, and a former Formula Super Vee race car driver. He grew up a decorated athlete who still holds various track and field pole vaulting records at the schools he attended.

We will miss his sense of humor and creative spirit. He died peacefully in his sleep in his favorite place (Yosemite) with his wife after a day of fishing and laughing.

We love you dad.

What stands out the most for me was how Rich would light up the room or where ever you were with him. His humor and contagious smile will alway be burned in my memory. Rich and I along with Wayne Riccetti were high school buddies. We shared our passion for cars together, just hanging out and doing what teenagers did and just having a great time. Rich and I got reconnected about 5 years ago. I recently met Rich in San Jose for short visit. He still had the same spark I remembered from high school days. A few years ago Rich surprised me a a car show in San Jose. We shared a few hours re living our high school days and with car talk of course. My deepest sympathy goes out to all of Richs family. Rich and I were good friends through our high school years. He spent most of his evenings having dinner and visiting with my brother Bruce and parents Doreene and Sal.

We have kept in touch through the years even though I moved to Oregon and raised my family there. The distance did not end our friendship.

His personality brought a lot of laughs to my parents and brother and all who knew him. He will be missed by many.

We send our condolences to his family.
With love Wayne and Joyce Riccetti

Rich and I were classmates at Capuchino and enjoyed a friendly rivalry, him on the track team, me swimming. It could be because we shared Croatian roots, but I always liked him. Even then he projected a calm confidence and likability that I'm sure helped him achieve success in adulthood.
My condolences to Rich's family. We've lost a good guy.
