Rick died peacefully at home in Mill Valley after a long struggle with the devastating effects of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Born in New York City and raised in Long Beach, CA, he graduated from U.C. Berkeley and then Washington University Medical School in St. Louis, MO. He completed his radiology residency at UCSF, followed by a sub-specialty in genitourinary disease. Rick practiced at CPMC for 36 years and developed a particular interest in mammography. He was beloved and respected by both the staff and his patients, many of whom specifically requested his services. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

I first met Dr. Jacobs in 1977 when I worked at Children's Hospital.
My husband Bob and I will miss the never ending kindness and caring Dr. Jacobs shared with patients and staff. Always a kind word and interest in our lives, this will never be forgotten, nor the Christmas parties seeing him in his tuxedo.
Rest In Peace Dr. Jacobs and bless you.

Rick was my ZBT fraternity brother at Cal in the tumultuous but exciting 1960's. In addition to being a terrific individual--- smart, aware and studious, Rick was the chapter president. As such, and as his roommate, we had the only personal phone in the house, which he graciously shared with me!
We both went on to medical careers in radiology, staying in touch early on, but unfortunately losing contact over the later years. I followed his sad personal medical saga more recently, and am now heartbroken at his death.
My wife Joanne (who also knew Rick well at Cal) send our heartfelt condolences to Susie and their family. May Rick, who will be remembered by so many, finally be at peace.
