Retired Superior Court Judge Richard (Dusty) Walden Rhodes passed away peacefully, with his wife at his side, on Wednesday, at age 91, in Moraga. Judge Rhodes was born in San Francisco, where his parents, Arthur Pym and Louise Walden Rhodes, were also born. He spent his entire life in California, with the exception of his tour of duty as a First Lieutenant with the United States Army in World War II.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

Judge Dusty was a kind, humorous, and very sharp jurist and general observer of life (whether about law, or Stanford football, or nearly any other topic). Some of his WWII army stories are hilarious (he was a "90-day wonder", and they put this sharp-minded guy in some trivial position! Ahh, good old SNAFU!).
Go with God, great and dear Hon. Rhodes!

Judge Rhodes was my idol in my early years at the Bar, and a career long dear friend. His firm handshake, his constant smile and unfailing support will be with me always.
His support was a blessing to me during my years on the Bench
Charles W. Hayden

God Bless and comfort you Dusty, you and your family.
