Rita Khachaturian Obituary

Rita Mary Khachaturian

Rita Mary Khachaturian passed away at her home in Hillsborough on November 4, 2016, surrounded by family, after a long battle with dementia. Born in Glossop, England on August 12, 1938, she had lived in Hillsborough for over 45 years. Rita was a beautiful and elegant woman. She enjoyed a long career as an Interior Designer, with her flair and sense of style she could make any space beautiful, especially her own home, where she loved being a great wife, taking care of her family and raising her four children. She was an excellent cook and could throw the most dazzling parties. She made everyone feel welcome and had a wicked sense of humor. Even though she had much tragedy in her life, including the loss of two sons, she had a way of making you feel better on your worst day. She supported many charities through her family foundation.
She was the beloved wife of Henry Khachaturian; cherished mother of Daphne (and Bruce) Kavich , Natasha (and Ahmed) Khachaturian Azzam, and the late Gerald and Mark Gutknecht; loving grandmother of Samantha Kavich, Charlie Kavich, Henry Azzam and Jasmin Azzam and dear sister of John Shepley, David Shepley, Gillian Booth, Peter Fletcher-Bromhall and the late Norma McKay and Margaret Shepley,
The family will receive friends at a Visitation to be held from 3:00 to 9:00 pm Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the CROSBY – N. GRAY & CO. Funeral Home, 2 Park Road, Burlingame. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park, 1370 El Camino Real, Colma, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Four Seasons Hotel (Veranda Ballroom), 217 Stevenson St.., San Francisco. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Mission Hospice are suggested.

Dear Tasha,

I just found out about your mother from Ingrid. This sad news brings tears to my eyes. I loved your mother. I feel so honored to have been able to enjoy her wonderful personality towards her later years in life. The laughter we shared was very special. I will always hold her close to my heart. My wishes for you and your family is to have the sadness of her passing go swiftly through your hearts with only loving feelings left behind to cherish.

Love,
Kathryn Hillgrove

We have known Rita for a long time and had the
pleasure to travel with her, Hank and Tasha
to Armenia. We had such a wonderful time
and lots of laughs together. She was a pretty
amazing lady, wife, mom and grand mother.

We will miss her dearly

I first met Rita in 1986 at my restaurant in San Mateo. She knew how to make an entrance and she would light up the room. Strong and beautiful, with a huge smile, and we got along right from the beginning.
She was an amazing woman with a great sense of humor and always made others laugh.

You will be dearly missed and please hug God for me! I miss your hugs.......

Love, Kim and Francis
