Robert Bean Obituary

Robert L. Bean Passed away with his family by his side on Sunday, May 3 after a brief illness with cancer. Born in San Francisco on October 26, 1937. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1959 with a B.S. degree in business administration. Immediately following graduation, he joined the accounting and consulting firm of Touche, Niven, Bailey, & Smart, now Deloitte & Touche, as a tax consultant, earning his CPA certificate in 1961. He was the youngest person to be admitted to partnership in 1967 at the age of 29. His entire 39-year professional career was spent with the firm in its San Francisco office practicing in the income tax field. In the mid to late 1970s, he became managing partner of the San Francisco Bay Area offices of Touche Ross & Co. and a member of its board of directors in the 1970s and 1980s. A longtime resident of Mill Valley, Bob is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy, of 47 years, whom he met on his first airplane trip to attend a firm orientation meeting in Chicago; his two daughters, Michelle Milosevich and Julie Casby; sons-in-law, Greg Milosevich and Bill Casby; four grandchildren: Miles and Curtis Milosevich, Cameron and Lauren Casby; and his sister Donna Thelen of Central Point, OR. Bob's youngest daughter Lisa succumbed to juvenile diabetes as the age of 8. Following retirement in 1998, Bob enjoyed time with his children and grandchildren, assisted in household projects, and visited several foreign countries. In February, Bob traveled to Africa for his final visit. Africa was a location that he thoroughly enjoyed visiting with his friends. As a member of the Pacific Union Club and Bohemian Club in San Francisco, as well as the Island Duck Club in the Suisun Marsh, he enjoyed the game of dominos, a challenging construction project, and a good bird shoot locally or abroad. Funeral Services will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, 3 Oakdale Avenue, Mill Valley on Friday, May 8 at 11:00am. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma. Bob was my brother. Unfortunately, as we became adults our lives went in different directions. He was always in my thoughts and I had nothing but love and respect for him. I know how much he cared for his family, especially his grandchildren.

Few men have had a quality friendship like Bob Bean And I, and I suspect very few men have had one for 60 years.
It is hard to let him go.

Dear Dorothy and family,
Bob was our rock at the Island Club. Vinny, Joey and I knew Bob just a few short precious years. We loved every bit of his coaching, cooking, bluffing, and kindness. Words cannot explain how sad we are; he was a generous man. We'll miss not seeing him on opening day jockeying for the best blind. We know he's in a better place where the birds are a plenty. All our love and prayers.

Dear Dot, Michelle, Julie, Greg and Bill... I cannot begin to express my regrets and sadness at the untimely loss of your husband, father and father in law. Bob was a fine man... He was one of those guys who you never thought about losing... He was going to live forever... We will never forget his kindness to our children... Dorothy and I will see you Friday... I just had to say something now...Please let us know if there is anything we can do to assist you all through this difficult time...
