Robert Francis Goodwin M.D.

GOODWIN, Robert Francis, M.D. - A prominent East Bay neurologist passed away in San Francisco on June 21, 2005. Dr. Robert Goodwin was born in St. Joseph, MO, on January 1, 1932 to Harold and Glenrose Goodwin. He received his B.A. degree at the University of Wichita, Kansas in 1953 and his M.D. degree at the University of Kansas in 1957. In 1958 he completed his internship and internal medicine residency at the Kansas City General Hospital and in 1962, his neurology residency at the University of Kansas. Robert served in the US Naval Hospital in Oakland as lieutenant commander from 1962-1964. He then started his private practice in the East Bay. Dr. Goodwin will always be remembered for his dedication to the medical profession. He will also be remembered as the best or worst joke teller. A lover of classic cars, Dr. Goodwin was often seen touring an antique RR in the neighborhood of Piedmont where he resided. Dr. Goodwin is survived by his beloved wife Nancy Mar; his four children: Robert Lovell Goodwin, Cynthia Ann Prestia, Julie Michelle Goodwin, William F. Goodwin and his wife Deanna; by his stepchildren, Christine Mar, Kent Mar and his wife Karen; and his six grand children: Tracy and Billy Goodwin; Julian and Alicia Prestia; Josh, Justin and Jeremy Goodwin. A Memorial Service in honor of Dr. Goodwin will be held on Wednesday June 29, 2005, 7 pm at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 330 Ravenswood Ave., Menlo Park, CA 94025.
