Robert Gorran Obituary

Robert Gorran
June 11, 1923 - September 6, 2023
Robert was born in New York City and moved to Los Angeles when he was 5. He graduated from Santa Monica High School in 1939, followed by Los Angeles City College in 1942 with a degree in Accounting. During WWII he was in the Navy and in 1945 attended UC Berkeley where he met his wife of 73 years, Tina Anne Traina, and graduated with a degree in Transportation and Traffic Management. Robert and Tina married in 1950. He worked as Controller of Cal-West Aviation and opened his own income tax and accounting practice, which he continued through his 100th year. He became a reserve Police Officer with San Mateo, then a Police Officer with Belmont for 27 years, then a reserve deputy with San Mateo County for a total of 40 years in law enforcement. He had been an Elk, a Millbrae Train Museum docent, and a Hiller Aviation docent. He had a boat he took to the Delta, Tahoe, and Clear Lake. He had an extensive operating Lionel train collection and was an amateur radio operator (K6AGT). He played piano and taught electronic keyboard. He and Tina loved the 70+ cruises they went on. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Tina, and his two children, Steven and Laura, and he had numerous cousins and friends. Viewing at 4:00pm with Vigil service with Navy Honor Guard and Rosary is on Wednesday, 9/13/23 at 5:30pm at Crippen & Flynn Chapel in Belmont, and Mass at IHM at 11:00am Thursday, 9/14/23. I´ve known Bob for many years and enjoyed him doing my taxes. He always had great stories, so there was as much work as there was laughing.

Bob was a great husband, father and person. What a great life he lived - in service to help and protect others. I was shocked to hear of his passing.

He was a staunch supporter of law enforcement and what was the right thing to do. He always had our backs.

Lynn and I send our sincerest condolences to his wife Tina, and his children Steve and Laura. We all lost a wonderful human being with Bobs passing!

It was our pleasure to have know Bob over the past 15 years thru various volunteering activities. It all started with Community Emergency Response Team, then later when I realized Bob and I both were Hiller Aviation Museum docents (just on different days). Bob was a role model of living a full life and giving back to the community and will be missed. Our deepest sympathies to his family.
