ROBERT HAYES Obituary

Robert Dean "Bob" Hayes
Loving husband and father, passed away unexpectedly in Calistoga, CA, on September 7, 2012.
A man of great vision, Bob was born in Iowa on March 9, 1929 and moved to California with his family in 1943, where he resided the rest of his life.
Professionally, Bob served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War, after which he spent 44 years as a food broker in San Francisco. He lived in Tiburon with his family until his retirement in 1990, when he and his wife moved to their vineyard in Calistoga, CA. He ran the family vineyard business in Napa and Sonoma counties for 39 years and his strong belief in the importance of community led Bob to support many local organizations in the Napa Valley.
Bob was a loving husband to his best friend, Joyce B. "Jackie" Hayes, who survives him. Together they shared 53 years building a wonderful life for their family and traveling the world, visiting over 75 countries where they made many lifelong friends.
A supportive and devoted father, Bob is also survived by his daughters- Susan Hayes of Calistoga, and Paula Hayes Avriett, and her husband, Michael P. Avriett, both of Pleasanton. He was also a proud grandfather to Sarah Groshans, Grant Groshans, Justin Avriett, and Kendall Avriett.
A private graveside service was held in St. Helena, CA. The family requests that memorial donations be made to your favorite local charity.

My thoughts and prayers are with Jackie and family. Bob welcomed me (and friends) into their home on several trips to the west coast. I felt part of their No CA family. God Bless.
