Robert Hydorn Obituary

Robert ("Bob") William Hydorn passed away peacefully at his home in the morning hours of February 19, 2023. He was born in San Francisco to his father and mother William and Rose Hydorn. He was a United States Veteran having served in the United States Navy. He started his career as an apprentice for the IUOE Stationary Engineers, Local 39 and became the Chief Engineer for UCSF Medical Center. He later became a union representative for Local 39 and retired as the Assistant Business Manager. He was a consummate advocate for his Local 39 members and was highly regarded by his members and colleagues.

He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and camping. He and his wife Mary shared the joy of riding their horses Eagle and Brandy and he was an active member of the San Mateo County Mounted Patrol. He was also an avid golfer who shared his golf passion with his son and grandson.

Bob lit up the room when he walked in. He made everyone he spoke with feel special. He was one of the most well-loved and well-respected humans on earth. He loved his family, and his family loved him. He will be sorely missed, but he loved Jesus and he is walking with Him now. He was a good and faithful servant. And we were blessed to have him in our lives.

Bob is survived by his wife Mary, his son Greg, his daughter-in-law Anne, his grandson Jonathon, and he has a multitude of nieces and nephews all of whom he loved dearly: Kirsten McCarthy (Tim), Noelle Sullberg (Jon), Allison Campbell (Wayne), Tracy Hydorn (Dana), Nicole Hydorn (Gary), Marshall Hydorn (Becka), Colin Hydorn (Kim), Craig Welzbacher (Heather), Meaghan Lefkowitz (David), Scott Leber (Lorena), Wendy Leber, Amy Leber-Wilson (Paul), and Christopher Leber (deceased).
