Robert Schenone Obituary

Robert L. Schenone Passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends, December 5, 2007 in Redwood City at the age of 72. He was born July 4, 1935 in Stockton, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents Andrea Schenone, Michael and Josephine Stagnaro. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Helen (nee Kauffman); their three children, Michael, Gary (Karen) and Patricia McDonald; sisters, Carol (Ron) Loiacono, Donna (Bob) Fraher; brothers and sisters-in-law, Al and Norma Guaspari, Mel and Joan Kauffman. He was the very proud grandfather of Gary Jr., Stephanie, Alyssa, Michele, Billy, Julianne, Noelle, Nicole, and Jaycie. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob grew up in San Francisco, graduating from Galileo High School in 1953 and USF in 1957. After serving three years in the Army, he began a 40 plus year career in the insurance industry. Starting as an underwriter for Safeco Ins., he moved his family to Southern California to become executive vice president of Merit Plan Ins. Co. He was instrumental in launching their new personal line products that are still used today. Returning to the Bay Area in 1970, Bob began this long association with civil Service Employees Ins. Co. as their senior vice president of marketing. Retiring in 1988, he started Schenone Insurance Services. This family business became the focus of his life over the last 20 years. With the loving support of his wife, Helen, he lived his dream of working with his children, building a thriving insurance brokerage that is a staple in downtown Menlo Park. Bob made many lifelong friends along the way. His sense of humor was only outdone by his endearing humility. He made everyone feel special and he valued each and every one of these relationships. He will sorely be missed by many but forgotten by none. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service and reception on Sunday, December 16, 2007 at 10:00 AM in Woodside. I am sorry to hear Bob has passed away. Linda and I always enjoyed the times we spent with Bob and Helen at CSE agent functions.
Bob had an impact of my life in a way that he was a mentor to me. He pointed me in the direction of joining Toastmasters, going for my CPCU designation, and starting my own insurance agency. I have a lot to thank Bob for.

I am deeply sorry for your loss. Bob was my first "boss." I worked for CSE Insurance Co in the 70's right out of high school. I was promoted by him to work for the brokerage dept and he tried to encourage me to get my own license, telling me that I was too smart to work under someone else's. Well, Bob, I thank you for having faith in me. I went back to school and have a Bachelors degree in Nursing. I have been an RN for nearly 20 years. I have and always will remember you.
