Like a lot of people, I first became acquainted with Rob through Nextdoor. I was immediately captivated by his stunning photography. Although "captivated" is selling it lightly because what I was really thinking as I was seeing his gorgeous photos of poppy fields on hikes through dramatically crooked oak trees or a glimpse of the Golden Gate Bridge peeking out through the fog on an early bay area morning was "here is somebody who truly appreciates and captures all the beauty of this place we are so lucky to live in". From there I found my way over to robertstarkey.com and his blog and read about all the beauty and the heartbreak he experienced worldwide. When I needed it most I found the stories of Bob, Tim and Zoey the Happy Dog who I discovered was the spitting image of my own beloved Sarah (1995 - 2012) also a very happy dog and a good, good girl. They could have been twins. It warms my heart to think of Bob and Zoey together again at the Rainbow Bridge

For some reason I have been unable to go on Next Door this year so I didn't read Robert's stories anymore and I missed them! But when I did, which was quite a while, Oh what stories they were! And so creative to use NextDoor for this journey. Thank you, and condolences to the family. I knew him just from the tales on the website.

I read Bob Sharkey's obituary and for some reason, I decided to read his books/blogs articles... I was heartened and saddened by his story of Bob and Rob. I read on.. and then I realized that I had read Bob's stories on NextDoor and been touched and leavened by them. I truly admire Bob and his generosity in sharing stories and taking time and making his points; his truly intentional life. He is now reunited with Rob and his little sister Chris, friend Sandy and all the rest of the friends he greets.. I am glad that he can once again raise a glass with Rob in Loutro and is united in eternity with his soulmate. Rest in peace Bob... yours was a life well lived. Susan
