Robert "Bob" L. Wynne, Jr.

Robert "Bob" L. Wynne, Jr., born September 7, 1951, in Lompoc, Ca, passed away unexpectedly May 20, 2016 on the beautiful island of Kauai, where he was vacationing with his wife, Mary. He was 64 years old.
A Bay Area native, Bob grew up in Alameda. He resided in Half Moon Bay with his family for the past 30 years. He was a University of California, Berkeley 1973 graduate and a member of the Theta Delta Chi Fraternity. Bob was a proud Cal Bear athletic supporter and a lifetime member of the Cal Berkeley Alumni Association. Bob also received his Master's Degree from California State University, San Diego, 1979.
During his publishing career, he worked at Touchdown Publications, Miller-Freeman and Lucille Packard Foundation. He was an active member throughout the Peninsula and in his community as a sports referee. He thoroughly enjoyed the beauty of the Coastside which he loved to capture through photography. He spent many days biking, hiking, and was a familiar face at Purisma Open Space, Tunitas Creek, and the Coastside Trail. Bob was a dedicated Dead Head for 50 years enjoying hundreds of concerts throughout the United States.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Marieann Wynne, and his brother, John Wynne.

I knew Bob and Mary when they lived next door to me in Sausalito, we had many dinners and wine together, Bob was a true stand up guy, never a cross word. When I found out Bob passed it broke my heart, I will forever miss him as my friend.

Bob and I were roommates for part of his time at SDSU in the 70's, and friends and fellow Grateful Dead fans ever since. He was kind, compassionate and generous. In 40+ years I never heard him say an unkind word about anyone. He had a big heart, a big laugh and and a great sense of humor. Bob was the kind of guy who would go into a room full of people who were feeling down, and make a joke about himself to make them feel better. His smile lit up any room. He was a wonderful husband and father and loved and was proud of his family. He was talented, well spoken and erudite but never took himself too seriously. I know it's a cliche, but God TRULY broke the mold when he created Bob.
Bob...gonna miss you buddy.

Deepest condolences and loving sympathy to the Wynne family. I worked with Bob for many years at Miller Freeman and remember his quiet strength, his professional excellence and his fun wit and humor. The world was a better place because Bob was in it.

So enjoyed hiking with Bob and Mary at Joshua Tree this Spring

I didn't know Bob personally very well, but I can attest to what a generous and caring person he was. I always remember Mary bringing the most elaborate and best smelling salads for lunch that Bob lovingly prepared for her. I had also a privilege to eat some of his creations. He was a great partner to Mary and a loving and wise father. My deepest condolences to his family and I will miss hearing about his trips and adventures
Love, Larisa
