Roger Bottarini Obituary

Roger Bottarini
May 22, 1953 - September 29, 2023
Roger Charles Bottarini passed away on September 29, 2023 surrounded by his family after a brief battle with an aggressive form of cancer.
Roger was born on May 22, 1953 in San Francisco to parents Charles and Estelle Bottarini. He grew up in the Excelsior neighborhood working in his father's service station where his love for cars began. He graduated from St. Ignatius High School in 1971 and from UC Berkeley in 1975 with a double major in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He worked as a software developer for the next 47 years and was considered a true genius in his field and one of the top programmers of his time. Roger was passionate about working on his cars and motorcycles, whistling along to any era of music. He loved to tell stories about his family, spoke lovingly about his children and grandchildren, loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor with a quick wit. He enjoyed going to car races with family and friends and taking road trips in his RV with his wife.
Roger is survived by his wife, Mary Gough Bottarini (her daughter, Nicole Gough), his children: Christopher Bottarini (Michelle), Allie La Tray (Tracy), Joseph Bottarini, Michael Bottarini, Jett Bottarini and his grandchildren: Jaden Bottarini, Hudson Bottarini, Harlow Bottarini, Jake La Tray, Madeline LaTray and his two sisters: Chris Ramezzano (Frank) and Cathy Bottarini. He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents on both sides.
A date for a celebration of his life will be announced. Roger would want any donations made in his memory to the Geneva Excelsior Lions Club, 1039 Santa Lucia Drive, Pittsburg, CA 94565-7614. His father was an active member for over 60 years.

I was a fellow classmate with Roger at St. Ignatius College Prep.
We shared many classes together, and I will always remember him for his intelligence and sense of humor.
Although I hadn´t seen Roger in recent years, his kindness and friendly nature will remain with me in memory.
May Roger go to the Light and be at Eternal Rest and Peace with Ultimate Love.

My heart goes out to Roger´s family at this difficult time. Please accept my sincere condolences.

Roger was very kind and humorous person and full of life! I learned a lot from him professionally and personally during our time together at Kenandy. I will miss you terribly Roger. May your soul rest in peace.
Sharing a pic with Roger when I was visiting office with my little one during my maternity leave back in 2014.
