Roger Edens Obituary

Roger Russell Edens Passed away peacefully July 20, 2009 at the age of 87. Born October 25, 1921 in El Paso, TX to Orvil and Cosa Edens. One of ten children, Roger is survived by his brother Fred; and sister Ruthie. While serving as a Marine in Washington, DC during WWII, Roger met Dorothy Jean Pearce. After the war ended they were married and returned to El Paso. Soon they moved to San Francisco and then down the Peninsula, where they became long-time residents of Redwood City and Foster City. After Dorothy's passing, Roger later married the late Mildred Moore and they also lived in Foster City. Roger was an excellent athlete and avid fan of the San Francisco 49er's and Giants. Roger enjoyed tennis, bowling, traveling and playing cards with friends. He appreciated all types of music and plays, especially musicals. Roger was a member of the "Castaways Senior Club" of Foster City. Roger and Dorothy are survived by their children: Patrick (Leanna), David (Sandy), Ronald and Michelle (Fred) Naas; grandchildren, Carrie Bohaboy, Leslie With, Christine Gruenberg, Brian Naas, Matthew and Melissa Edens; great-grand-children, Caitlin and Jordan Bohaboy, and Chloe Gruenberg. Roger was cremated and his ashes will be scattered over Lake Tahoe where Dorothy's remains were also scattered. A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date to celebrate Roger's life.
