Ronald Foote Obituary

Ronald Oakley Foote
06/18/1934 - 02/15/2025
Ronald, (Ronnie, Ron) Foote was born in Santa Cruz, CA on June 18th, 1934. He loved the Ocean, his lifelong nickname was "Duck" always in first and last one out of the water. As a teenager, Ron worked at the famous Santa Cruz boardwalk, he loved telling stories about those days and they never got old, his mischievous eyes would light up like it was just like yesterday for him.
Ron attended California State University, Fresno where he earned his bachelor's degree in sociology. He went on to make a career working with the California Department of Transportation for over 30 years until his retirement at 57.
Ron and the beautiful Nancy Fuchs were wed in September of 1957 and soon daughter Sandy was born, followed a few years later by her brother Bill. They moved to Tiburon, CA in 1965. Nancy passed away in 1981 and Ron never remarried but always had many friendships.
After his retirement from the State of California, Ron became an avid cyclist. He and his longtime companion Mary Ann cycled together and travelled the world along the way. Their friends were a very close-knit group and spent lots of time together locally in Marin and Mexico. We loved hearing their stories of their travels. Sadly, Mary Ann passed on suddenly and later in life, he reconnected with a childhood friend (Daisy) from Santa Cruz. They also enjoyed Mexico, Argentina, and many other southern countries.
Ron loved baseball, he was partners with season tickets for The San Francisco Giants and stayed in Scottsdale every year for Spring Training with his group of friends. Once spring training was over, he was back in his seat at Candlestick Park and (then) Pac Bell with his daughter Sandy or his son Bill or any one of his buddies who wanted to join in. Ron enjoyed reading, spending time with his friends and cheering on his favorite San Francisco Giants. He is survived by his son, Bill Foote, daughter-in-law, "Crafty" and his beloved grand dog, "Arti, the Wonder dog."

I worked for and then with Ron for many years when we both were assigned to the District 4 office. He was a great supervisor and friend. I will have the family in my heart and prayers.

To our wonderful Dad, We all miss you so much and hope that your pain is gone now and you can frolic with all of your friends who went before you. Arti keeps wondering where you are...(who says animals don't connect? Arti knows that is not true) Our love will never go away, so many friends are reaching out to remind us of how awesome you were and still are in our hearts forever.

My husband Mahlon "Fuzzy" Foote was Ron´s cousin. Fuzzy passed away in 2025. They were very close friends while growing up in Santa Cruz.
