Ronald Remke Obituary

Mr. Ronald Owen "Ron" Remke, 69, of Bartlesville, died at 7:45 P.M. on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center.
The family will conduct private services for Mr. Remke at a later date and cremation arrangements were under the direction o the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Memorial funds have been established and those who wish may send their contributions to the Washington County SPCA, 16620 State Highway 123, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 74003 or to the Animal Rescue Foundation, P.O. Box 3292, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 74006.
Mr. Remke was born in Effingham, Illinois on December 27, 1943 the son of Marvin Arthur and Wilma Lois (Hites) Remke. He grew up in Midland, Texas and then Bartlesville, attended Northeastern Junior College at Miami and then Oklahoma State University in Stillwater where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Animal Husbandry. While at OSU he was active in the Air Force ROTC program and following his graduation in 1966 he entered active duty with the U.S. Air Force. He was a Combat Reconnaissance Fighter Aircraft Commander-RF4 Captain Sr. Pilot with combat flying over North & South Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. He received his Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Air Force as a Captain in 1977. He returned to the Bartlesville area and became the owner of the "Boat Doc" in Copan for a number of years until 2000. He had also been active in the income tax preparation business. Mr. Remke was married to Linda Lu Futhey on July 8, 1978 in Bartlesville. They made their home in the Copan area until recently relocating to Bartlesville. He loved the outdoors, was an avid fisherman and proud of the fact that he had the opportunity to fish in numerous countries during his military career. He was a member of the East Cross United Methodist Church and the Bartlesville Bass Masters.
Mr. Remke is survived by his wife, Linda Lu Remke of Bartlesville, one son, Sean Remke of Brownsburg, Indiana, three brothers, Bruce Remke of Owasso, Okla., Michael Remke of Katy, Texas, and Rob Remke of Chanhassen Minnesota, three grandchildren, Hunter Remke of Stephenville, Texas, Brookelynne Remke and Laurynn Remke both of Brownsburg, Indiana, numerous nieces and nephews and his two dogs, Suzy Wong and Gracie Mae and his cat, Star. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Neal Dee Remke.

Linda, Michael and Deniece send our condolences to you and the family as we thought alot of Ron and enjoyed being his friend and downtown neighbor. Hated to hear that he had passed on, but hated watching him suffering these past years. God Bless and please find the comfort that he would want you to find.
