Roosevelt Nettles Obituary

Roosevelt "Cheese" Nettles A retired longshoreman and resident of Eaton Rouge, he died at 10 p.m., Monday, April 21, 2008, at Vital Source Specialty Hospital. He was 75. A native of Zachary and was honorably discharged in 1955 from the U.S. Army. Survived by his wife Margaret Payne Nettles; three daughters, Sandra Nettles of Baton Rouge, and Diane Nettles-Crittendon and Merrion Nettles both of San Francisco; two sons, Carl D. Nettles and wife, Jeanne of Baton Rouge; and Duwayne Nettles of San Francisco; two sisters, Shirley Turner and Yvonne Booker both of Baker; three brothers, Lloyd Ellis and wife, Adele of Baton Rouge; Clyde Nevels of Chicago, and Richard Nevels, Jr. of Baton Rouge; seven grandchildren, Shedrick Nettles, Tiffanee Young, Maurice Brooks, Natecia White, William Nettles, Nicole Crittendon and Sarah Crittendon; and six great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his mother Rose Wilson. He was a graduate of Capitol High School and was on the 1952 Athletic Merit All-City football team and received a scholarship from Morehouse College. and Grambling University. Visiting at the Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church on Thursday, May 1 from 5pm until religious service at 8pm, conducted by Elder Joseph B. Combs. Dismissal at 9 am, Friday (TODAY), May 2. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery. Arrangements by Scott's Bluff Morticians.

I only known you since 2000, but it feel like I've known you all my life, I had grown to love every thing about you, your jokes, fishing, The Family Reunion meetings and events, you was always there no matter what, you will be deeply missed, but your memories will last a life time, the family has our deepest sympathy and prayer, So sorry I wasn't able to make it, be bless
