Rosario Aramburu Obituary

Rosario Aramburu
October 1, 1930 - March 18, 2022
Rosario Aramburu left this world accompanied by angels peacefully with her children at her side on March 18, 2022 at the age of 91. She was born in a small fishing village in the Basque country. Her father was a fisherman and she would walk many miles with her mother, selling fish throughout many nearby villages.
Rosario didn't have an easy start in life. When she was six, the Spanish Civil War broke out and her father was imprisoned. She endured hiding from the bombings and fleeing their home. When she was 22, she met our father, Julian, a handsome young U.S WW2 veteran who traveled back to his hometown in the Basque country looking for a wife. He fell in love with her beauty and fun personality. They were soon married and he brought her back to San Francisco in 1952. She was just 22 years old.
What an adventure for her! They traveled a few weeks by ship where she was constantly seasick, hated American food and spoke no English. She said she learned English by watching her favorite TV show "I Love Lucy".
They soon had a family of four children. Rose loved to sing as she cooked. Rose had a green thumb and loved working in her garden. She was stunningly beautiful with her honey-colored hair and blue eyes.
Rose is survived by her sister, Feli Barainca, children Virginia Hunter (Ron), Arlene Spellman (Ben), Elizabeth Kvarna (Terje), and Albert Aramburu (Kim), grandchildren: Anthony Hunter (Lindsay), Angela Duval (Nathan), Krystal Duncan (Dominic), Lucas Aramburu, and Erik (Joyce), Jesse, Vincent and Maite Kvarna along with 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Dear Mommy, we miss you with all of our hearts and will see you and Daddy in heaven. Maite zaitugu asko, Ama.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 31, 5:00 to 9:00 with a Vigil at 7:00pm at Cypress Lawn, Colma. A Funeral Mass will be Friday, April 1 at 11:00am at St. Andrews Catholic Church, Daly City

So sorry to hear of your Mother's passing away. Our families grew up together as we lived directly across the street from each other. I remember your Mom driving us to swimming lessons in the summer because our Mom couldn't drive. She will be missed.

To all the Aramburu family,
I have fond memories of your lovely Mom over the years. I remember her as a beautiful young mother, working in her garden or sitting in the front row at Mater Dolorosa Church. She was always very sweet and friendly. In her later years, we would chat as she walked at Alta Loma Park. She lived the American immigrant´s dream, working hard with your Dad and seeing her family succeed in this country. May she Rest In Peace now with your dear father! May God bless you all with happy memories to comfort you.

Dearest Aramburu Family,
I will miss Tia Rosario so very much. Both Tio Julian and Tia Rosario have always been so supportive of me joining the Aramburu family!!! John and I had many delicious Sunday night meals prepared by Tia Rosario at their lovely South San Francisco home!!! I will miss you dearly and so happy I have so many great memories from the Bay Area as well as the many trips to the Basque Country!!! Rest In Peace and you are now together with Maria, Manuel, and your beloved Julian.

Our condolences to your family on the loss of your Mom. Our family lived around the corner on Zita Drive in SSF as I remember your family with ties to Mater Dolorosa Church. My Mom who left us many years ago thought very highly of your Mom always saying how sweet and kind she is.

Just know that your Mom is in Heaven as she will look down on all of your family and pray for you
