Roy Nierenberg Obituary

Roy Nierenberg
Roy Nierenberg was a realist who always saw a silver lining. He died on January 24, 2025. Born in 1945, in New York, to Gerard I. Nierenberg and Juliet Low Nierenberg, Roy was known for his kindness, a genuine interest in everyone he met, deep curiosity and an irrepressibly positive attitude toward the world.
Roy received a bachelor's degree from Columbia University, a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a master's in economics from George Washington University. Roy worked as a lawyer for the federal government in Washington D.C., for 10 years, before founding Experience In Software, in Berkeley, in 1983, to develop interactive project management software.
Roy sang in the Berkeley Community Chorus and Orchestra, was on the board of the Berkeley-Sakai Foundation and was an active member of the Huntington's disease community.
Memorial services, 11 a.m., Sunday, February 2, at Fernwood Cemetery, 301 Tennessee Valley Rd., Mill Valley.
Roy is survived by his wife, Mimi Sheiner; children, Jovia Nierenberg, and her partner, JohnRey Hassan; and Zeke Nierenberg and his wife, Claire Niederberger; grandchildren, Arthur and Eli Nierenberg; brothers, Roger Nierenberg and George T. Nierenberg; and many nieces and nephews.
Donations in Roy's name may be made to Cure Huntington's Disease Initiative (CHDI), The Huntington's Disease Society of America, The Berkeley Community Chorus and Orchestra, The Berkeley–Sakai Association, or the political movements Contest Every Race, or Movement Labs.

Roy was the kindest and most positive of people.
And I'll miss how he would say he enjoyed his salmon :-)

Roy loved singing. He had a big presence in the
Berkeley Community Chorus & Orchestra. He was always smiling unless he was laughing. We will miss Roy and his strong voice.
