I met Russ about 10 Years ago at What-a Racquet health club. I have been cutting his hair ever since. I was shocked about his passing since I just saw him a couple of weeks ago. I loved hearing all his stories about his travels with his wife whom I never met but by listening to Russ's stories felt like I knew. They obviously had a great life together. I will miss him. My deepest sympathy to Russ's widow and family. I knew Russ while working together on projects at UCSF. He always had my upmost respect. He was friendly and kind to everyone he met and treated us all with respect. He will be greatly missed by us all and can't be replaced but I'll always remember him as I walk on the Mission Bay Campus that he has created.

I worked with Russ at UCSF Mission Bay QB3 and he was always so nice to me. He would always take the time to speak to me so cheerfully when we met, even if he was meeting with someone. Once we were talking in his office and I admired his screensaver, and he said "Oh that's my back yard". I told him "Oh it's so beautiful, it looks like a park", He laughed. He was just such a genuine person. I will certainly miss him. My prayers are with the family. I know words are just never enough. May your beautiful memories comfort you - We never totally lose the ones we love, we keep them in our hearts forever. I'm sure he's walking around in a much more beautiful park in heaven.

While I only had a chance to know Russ over the last 2-3 years ,he impressed me as a true prince among the mortals . I looked forward to many more positive interactions with him ,he will be sorely missed .
