Russell Fisk Obituary

Russell James Fisk
April 16, 1946 - April 19, 2023
Russell passed away on April 19, three days after his 77th birthday, at Kaiser Hospital in South San Francisco. Russell was born in Winona, Minnesota to Russell [Boon] Fisk and Laura Belle Fisk. He was predeceased by his older brother Richard and sister Barbara Kroner. Russell attended Cotter High School in Winona.
Drafted into the US Army after high school, he served in the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1967. After his discharge, he moved to San Francisco, where he became a truck driver for various commercial industries. As an experienced driver, he drove for the State of California and later with the City and County of San Francisco Park and Recreation, and the Department of Public Works. While at DPW he was named Truck Driver of the Year and received an award from Mayor Feinstein.
Russell was a lifelong active athlete-playing basketball, running at the polo fields, skiing and in retirement riding his bicycle. He was a devoted sports fan who followed several teams, including the SF 49ers, Giants, Warriors, Minnesota Twins and Vikings.
He is survived by his brother Frederick B Fisk, nieces Shannon Chavez and Tracy Kroner, and nephews Michael Kroner and Scott Fisk, and long time friend Dorothy Chang. Russell will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery.

I am reaching out to Russell´s family. My name is Sandra and I have been helping out my father clean out his now diseased wife,Susan´s belongings. I came across a Bronze Star given by the military to a Russell Fisk. After doing research I think I may have found the owner of the bronze star. I am sorry it may be a bit late, but I would like to give it to a family member. Please email me at [email protected]

Many good memories of Russ and Rich playing basketball, and our meals together. Good times in Daly City, Millbrae and the Russian River. He will be missed by all of my family. My deepest sympathy.

Russ was a friend of my father, on the basketball court and off. I have many memories of shared laughter when Russ and his brother would visit our home. Fred, I am sorry for your loss.

Russ was a good man. I worked graveyard shift with Russ at DPW back in 1988. He showed me how to adjust the big broom on the back of the sweeper. Sorry for your loss.
