Ruth Arth Memoriam

Ruth Roe Arth
October 3, 1946 - November 9, 2024
Ruth created safety and belonging for countless people over the course of her life through art and by generously sharing unreasonably delicious and thoughtful food that sparked joy, comfort, and connection.
She was a fierce advocate for causes and people she believed in and her presence was the softest place to land on hard days.
Ruth found her deepest calling in the kitchen, and her legacy will live on around our dining room tables, in our most beloved pots, pans, and cheese boards, on the pages of our dirtiest recipes, and in every holiday meal that starts at 10pm.
She called San Francisco home for over 50 years and her children, Peter and Alison, will always hear her in the City's fog horns, cable cars, and bustling farmer's markets.
Ruth was a warrior for love.

Hello, my name is Lynn McKinnon. I was a neighbor of Ruth´s in San Francisco. I am sorry to hear of Ruth´s passing. She was a lovely person, annd a wonderful member of our community. I was lucky enough to know her with Charlie and with Henry. I also knew Bill and wondered if he is now Henry´s guardian? It would give all her neighbors comfort to know Henry is taken care of because Ruth´s relationship with him was so special. I am so sorry for your loss and will remember Ruth fondly.
