For years I have memorized my favorite poems. I write some poetry also. Several years ago, I found this book--"Poetry for a Lifetime." It is my favorite collection of poems. I really appreciated his comments. I have memorized over 200 poems. Dr. Etheredge's choices were so much my own. Just today, I decided to look him up on my computer. I saw where he had passed away just this last June. If I could have only let him know how much I appreciated his book. He must have been a great man. May you find comfort.

A Thanksgiving or Christmas doesn't go by without my thinking about Uncle Sam, Aunt Ruthie and the family. Remember our charades games after dinner? I admired both of them so much. Uncle Sam was a hero in so many ways. My love to all the Etheredges, their children and grandchildren.

I was devastated that I had to miss the service. But I did honor you, Daddy Sam, at 2:00 on Sunday. I was 100% there in spirit. My love to the family. They did you proud! xxx, Amy Puccinelli

Some 10 years ago I was given a copy of "Poetry for a Lifetime" selected by Dr. Etheredge. I read something out of it almost every day and have always reflected on its unique selections and the penetrating yet gentle commentary by Dr. Etheredge. Although, I never personally met Dr. Etheredge he continues to touch my life in a rewarding way. I have read with no surprise that he was a man who lived life well with values that I admire. We are so blessed that he was able through his work to heal so many and thankful that he left a wonderful legacy in his writing....

I feel fortunate to have a copy of Dr. Etheredge's book of poetry, and to have learned about him from his grandson, Mike. In reading his obituary and reflecting on his life, I feel inspired by his accomplishments, courage, and love. My husband, Arthur, joins me in sending our condolences to all his family.

We never got a chance to meet Sam but have learned much about him from his Grandson Mike (Suzanne & Bill's son). Mike is our son-in-law, married to our daughter Jackie and we have heard such warmhearted stories and have a copy of his book of poems on our shelf. We feel we know a bit about him through Mike who was so proud to speak of him. We have also met his children and grandchildren at the wedding and can certainly tell through them what a wonderful man he must have been.
Our condolences to the entire family.

Sam was such a lovely man whom Charlie and I will remember fondly. I know Alex will always have warm thoughts of Parker's grandfather.
