Sharon Elaine Damato Passed away peacefully following a courageous battle with cancer on August 11, 2008. Her devoted husband of 44 years, children and sister were by her side. Sharon was born in San Francisco on August 30, 1942 to Clement and Vera Kansora. She attended St. Brendan's Grammar School, Mercy High School and Lone Mountain College where she formed dear friendships that would last a lifetime. She devoted her life to her family as a beloved wife to Tony; loving mother to Nicole (Bob) McSweeney and Anthony (Kathy) Damato; proud grandmother of Nicholas, Mia, Ryan and John; dear sister to Arlene Kansora. Sharon spent many years as a comptroller, helping Tony build Damato and Gale Insurance brokerage firm. She adored working in the financial district and was truly the bedrock of the firm. Her later years were spent enjoying simple pleasures. She took care of her grandchildren, attended art classes, walked in Golden Gate Park daily and was active in various charities. Sharon devoted her life to others and her warmth, sense of humor and generous spirit will be missed by all who loved her dearly. Friends are invited to attend the Vigil Service 7pm Sunday, Aug. 17, at HALSTED N. GRAY - CAREW & ENGLISH, 1123 Sutter St. and the Funeral Mass, 10:30am, Monday, Aug. 18, at SS Peter & Paul Church, 666 Filbert St. Reception to follow. As a classmate of Sharon @ Mercy High, my husband Bob and I were so saddened to read of her death while we were on vacation. I have wonderful memories of Sharon and they will be treasured by me always. I am so sorry I was not home to attend her funeral service.
