Shogi Takata Obituary

Shogi Takata A life long resident of the Berkeley area, died Monday, February 20, 2006 at Alta Bates Medical Center. He was 79. Mr. Takata worked for Big Brothers and Big Sisters as a social worker for 25 years. Survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Kim Takata; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne Takata and Wendy Adachi; sons, Bruce Takata and Kent Takata; grandson, Tyler Takata; brother, Paul Takata; as well as nieces and nephews. Private family services have been held and a public memorial celebration of Shogi's life will be held on March 25, 2006 at 3pm, at the East Bay Free Methodist Church, 5395 Potrero Ave., El Cerrito, CA. I knew Mr. Takata as he was Bruce's father. I had good memories of him from the Troop 26 boy scout troop which I belonged and where Shogi was a scoutmaster. He was a very nice man, and was very helpful w/us in the scouts. He will be missed.
