Socorro Boboschi Obituary

Socorro Mary Boboschi September 26, 1919 - September 24, 2009 Cora Boboschi passed away peacefully September 24, 2009, in San Francisco, California, with her husband, Joseph Boboschi, by her side, as he had been for nearly 65 years. Born September 26, 1919, in Winfield, Kansas, to Jose and Otilia Chaparro, Cora spent her early life in El Paso, Texas, where she and Joe met in 1943. After marrying on December 17, 1944, Joe and Cora moved to San Francisco, California. Their son, Joseph Jr., was born three years later. They purchased their first home in Daly City, California, in 1950. Selflessness, hard work and devotion to each other and to their son were the hallmarks of Joe and Cora's life together. Cora worked as a retail clerk for many years, until she retired with Joe in 1980. In 1984, Joe and Cora decided to enjoy their retirement in Napa, California. With Joe, Cora was active in the Napa Chapter of the Sons of Italy and for twelve years, from 1996 to 2008, served as a volunteer at the Napa County Food Bank. For the twenty-five years that they made their home in Napa, Cora was surrounded by the jasmine, roses and fruit trees Joe lovingly tended for her. In early 2009, Cora and Joe returned to San Francisco to live with and enjoy their son and his family. Cora is survived by her husband, Joe, who cherished her each day of their life together. She also leaves behind her beloved son, Joseph Boboschi, Jr., her daughter-in-law, Kathleen Patterson, and her grandchildren, Solana Boboschi and Daniel Baker, of San Francisco. Cora is also survived by her loving sisters, Ofelia, Teresa, and Agnes Chaparro, of El Paso, Texas. Cora was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Manuel Chaparro. Cora's sweet character, gentle sense of humor, and devotion to her family endeared her to all who knew her. A private memorial is planned. Those who wish to honor Cora's memory may do so by a donation to the Napa County Food Bank or any other act of kindness.
