STEVEN HICKEY Obituary

Steven Hickey
Feb. 18, 1954 to Nov. 7th, 2012
Beloved brother and friend, Steve Hickey, passed away in his home in Marin County on Wednesday November 7th.
Steve was raised in Massachusetts by his parents George and Agnes, and graduated from Boston College High School in 1972 where he was an outstanding student and member of the soccer team.
Steve began studying Film & Communications at Emerson College in Boston in the fall of 1972. In 1975, he transferred to the San Francisco Art Institute to continue studying film. He later managed various sporting goods stores and was involved in the import of skis and snowboards, traveling to Japan and Europe for his business.
He was widely read in history and modern literature, and would often entertain friends and family with his witty sense of humor. He traveled extensively throughout South America, China, Vietnam, France, Germany and Austria, but always returned to San Francisco where he resided for the last 37 years. For over 20 years he has managed various nightclubs in North Beach.
He is remembered by his loving family - brothers Dr. Thomas Hickey of NM, and Jim Hickey of VA, by his mother Agnes Hickey, and by his many friends in the Bay area.
A Time of Remembrance will be held at Monte's Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home, at 330 Red Hill Avenue, in San Anselmo on Thursday November 15th at 1pm. A celebration of his life will follow. He is missed and loved by all those who knew him.

Steven you crossed my mind today and it made me smile. I will never forget you. I have never met anyone like you and I don't believe I ever will again. The world is a little less exciting without you dude...until next time, love Rain

Dear Steve, although we worked together 30 years ago, I can still see those steel blue eyes and that mocking smile as if it were yesterday. In the years we worked together, your wicked sense of humor somehow put me in touch with my own, and I owe you for that to this day. See you on the other side.

Love, Sam

My dear friend,

Though we got older and grayer I'll always remember you as a laughing teenager. You brought so much joy to my high school and college years. I have you to thank for enticing me to CA.......where I finished college, met my husband, had my daughter and now enjoy all the memories we made together as good buddies and partners in crime.

I have yet to encounter a more gentle soul....you touched the hearts of everyone you ever met.

Steve will be missed by many, loved by all. Tomorrow's his big day -- the "gathering" at the funeral home in San Anselmo, and I know when he looks down upon us from up high, he will be pleasantly surprised at how many people miss him. Keep smiling, bro, and we'll see you again one day. Love you. -- Jim

To my wonderful Uncle and Godfather,

"May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
May the rains fall soft upon your fields
and until we meet again,
May the Lord hold you in the palm of His hand."

I love and miss you very much, Uncle Steve. I can't wait to see you again someday...and reunite with Hershey too :)

Love you forever and ever.
