Steve passed away unexpectedly at his home in Southern California. He was the beloved husband of June Murphy and a devoted father to his three daughters, Ali, Lindsay and Sean. Steve had an infectious warmth about him and touched so many with his booming voice and loving personality. He was born in San Francisco to John and Lorraine Murphy. The oldest of three, he is survived by his two sisters, Sing and Joan, and his mother, Lorraine, whom he cared for deeply. He was a part of the very first graduating class from St. Veronica's in South San Francisco. He attended South San Francisco High School and ultimately graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in Political Science. Steve and his wife, June, met in 1982. They married in 1985 and moved to Southern California, but he liked to say that his heart was always in San Francisco. After 24 years in the tax industry working for CCH, Steve retired so he could spend more time with his family. A lifelong athlete, Steve absolutely loved basketball and played from childhood to college. Steve was an incredibly passionate Golden State Warriors fan. Their success the past couple of years was a true delight for him to watch and talk about. Beyond basketball, Steve enjoyed gardening, reading, politics, playing tennis and vacationing with his family. He just simply loved life. Steve and June would have been married 30 years this May. He departed our world far too early and will be fondly remembered and so deeply missed. A memorial mass will be held in his honor at St. Veronica's in South San Francisco on February 28 at 2 pm.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

sad day,...... "the Murph" leaving us. Nothing but great memories, engaging smile, warm heart, relentless on the b'ball court, so much fun to play alongside him. Great friend, will miss him dearly. My heart goes out to the family.
