Robert and David,
I had the privilege of getting to know your mother in the last 20 years as a highly effective leader in the legal community and as a devoted mother, wife, daughter, and sister. Her courage and determination and relentless pursuit of the truth in every task was inspirational. She is missed by many.

One of our favorite memories is when Sue Ann attended Laura's sister Sarah's wedding in 2018. She generously volunteered to wrangle her 1 year old grandson while his parents served as Maid of Honor and Officiant. Here's a great picture of Sue Ann, Laura and George. Sue Ann always put family first.

I was sorry to hear of Sue Ann's passing. I first met her at my 2014 photography art show at the Botanical Garden, where she showed a kind appreciation for my work. She also seemed genuinely delighted to talk about growing up in the Midwest -- a background we shared. The Garden and the Bay Area will miss her.

I met Sue Ann when I was 16 through my dear friends Evelyn Belnavis and Gwendolyn Miller-Burton. I´m 58 and Sue Ann has always been a symbol of excellence and achievement to me. I know she is resting in peace with her beloved Bob.

I’m sorry I could not attend the memorial service for Sue Ann. She was a person who did so much good in the world. I send my sympathies to her sons and their families. I was the Board Chair at St. Paul’s School following Sue Ann’s tenure in that position. She was so gracious with advice and counsel. She could not have been more helpful to me and though it was over 20 years now, I remember how grateful I was for her support. She was simply amazing. An example of a remarkable person doing good in the world and living life to the fullest. I’m so sorry for her loss. I will be making a donation to St. Paul’s School in her honor.

Dear Myron and Irv, I knew your sister was an accomplished lawyer, a promotor of botanical gardens, a passionate wife, an adoring parent, grandparent, aunt, and friend. I knew she was also a proud Jew; and for a six-month period Pekka, I and our kids were also members of Temple Israel in Oakland. I never knew she was valedictorian when she graduated from Elston High. I am thankful for the times we had together whenever I was in Redwood City visiting our kids. I am comforted in my loss to know she heard my loving farewell message. Knowing how peacefully and painlessly she died, gives me-as it must you-a chance to continue to celebrate her remarkable life. I have a messsage in red in my calendar for witnessing the funeral. Love and hugs from Pat Ruby Sinervo and Pekka

An individual of remarkable character and brilliance who stood her ground bravely and stridently for all in which she believed.

Teacher, leader, role model, and aunt. And this is just within the family. A blessing on my life, a guide to becoming a better human being, and a much cherished and loved person. The sky is brighter by one star now and I will let it shine on me as a a reminder of the good that is begotten by good. I will carry Sue Ann's love in my heart forever.

I had the pleasure of serving with Sue Ann on the SF Bay Area Advisory Board of Facing History and Ourselves. She was passionate about the work we did to offer students the opportunities to recognize and consider responses to bigotry, prejudice and injustice. She spent much of professional and volunteer life addressing those issues to help create a humane and safe environment. She was a bright and caring friend. She will be missed.
