Sue Chiu Obituary

Sue Chung Chiu Passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 9, 2008. Everyone who knew and loved her, knew her as "Mama Chiu." Mama Chiu was born in Helena, MT, on August 10, 1922. She grew up and met her husband, George Chiu in Los Angeles. Mama Chiu is the oldest of five children. She is survived by her sisters, Mary Quan, Rosie Wong and Molly Wong. Sue is also survived by her eight children and their spouses, 21 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Henry, Susan, Ashley and Kylie Chiu; Howard, Patricia, Katherine and Lawrence Chiu; Harold, Mary, Tony and Ian Chiu; Ioni and Mike McIlrath; Madison Weiss; Curtis and Violet Chiu; Helen, Robert, Tiffany, Valerie and Marcus Lew; Jason, Sindy, Jackie and Christian Louie; Hannah, Matthew, Kristina and Brandon Huey; Harriet, Eva andClaire Chan; David and Michelle Wong; Hazel, Albert, Gary, Christina and Mariah Fong; Emmanuel, Angela, Randy, Jeremy and Christopher Dumalig; Herbert, Tami, Daniel, Nicole and Justin Chiu. Mama Chiu lived a full, busy, and robust life. She thoroughly enjoyed all of her children and grandchildren. She was constantly surrounded by love and companionship. Mom enjoyed many vacations with her children, but most of all, she loved the slot machines. She would stay up all hours and play the high roller room. She was really proud of that. Mom loved strolling up and down Clement St. Because of her fun, loving attitude, she made friends easily and everywhere. Anyone who came in contact with her immediately loved her. Mom was generous and kind. She shared everything she had. Friends may visit and say their goodbyes on Friday evening at 6pm at Ashley and McMullen, 4200 Geary Blvd, (6th Ave and Geary, across from KFC) in San Francisco. We will have a service the following day at 1PM at the same location. Mom will be buried at the old Chinese Cemetery in Colma, CA, next to her beloved husband, George.

Dearest Mom & Dad,
Your 4 daughters & their husbands & some of your grandchildren went to visit you today as well as pay our respects to Auntie Moo & Uncle. Want you to know everyone is doing well; families are getting larger; some of us have retired. Baba, Hazel now works at the Giants ballpark just for fun & to pass time. We still remember how you took us to the Giants games & miss you all so much. Mom, Yen Yen is doing so well. She still doesn´t talk much but points to things. She can understand when I ask her to do something too.
Just catching up w/ you two but want you to know you are forever in my heart. Love, Hay Yeet

Dearest Mom, I want to thank you for taking care of me (the asthma child), Eva, Michelle, and especially Yen Yen all those years. You always treated me special and dear and I will always remember your love. I never had much but I hope I made you proud. At least one daughter became a lawyer and the other one will finish UCLA. I have completed my Bachelor's and a Paralegal Certificate and can proudly speak Chinese. I love you with all my heart and I hope I can see you in my dreams. I love dad too and I am glad you can be with him. I miss you sooo much. We all miss you sooo much. (Hay Yeet)

through your words and actions every time i've come to play with you, you've taught me to celebrate every moment and appreciate the greatest things in life, reminding all of us to always be grateful for what we have especially during the hardest hours and keeping this large family together. the world will never know another as silly and goofy or as loving and strong. i can't believe you're gone.
