Susan Thomas Obituary
November 24, 1937 - January 2, 2018
Susan Davidson Thomas died suddenly after a fall at her home in Stanford, CA on Jan 2, 2018.Susan was the daughter of Forrest B. Davidson and Lois (Miles) Davidson. Susan was born in San Francisco and raised in Los Altos. She attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart. She held a BA in Zoology from UC Berkeley, a Masters of Biological Sciences from Stanford University, and an MBA from Santa Clara University. For many years she worked as a risk analyst at Failure Analysis Associates in Palo Alto. She was married to John H. Thomas, professor of biological sciences at Stanford University, from 1966 until his death in 1999.
She will be deeply missed by her sisters Jeanne Kline and Jane Hills. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Catherine Hills (Audrey Borden), Barbara (Keith Smith), Jim, Peter (Marcia Stuermer), and Robin (Lisa Beskin) Kline and grand niece: Josie Borden.
Susan was well known and loved in her neighborhood for being a friendly and compassionate neighbor. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Palo Alto.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to any charity that contributes to the protection of our environment or animal welfare.
Funeral mass with reception to follow, will be held Friday January 12, 2018, at 11:30am, at St Albert the Great Church, 1095 Channing, Palo Alto. All are welcome.

I would see Susan every couple of weeks at my workplace. She was the kindest person and I loved talking with her. My deepest condolences, she will be missed.
Kayak trip

I met Susan at a Road Scholar kayaking trip in Monterrey CA and began a wonderful friendship. Every time I came to CA we would meet at our favorite restaurant and catch up on our news. Twice we went on short trips together. A lovely lady, I will sorely miss her.

Susan was a client of Dr. Kenneth Weigel, DVM for so many years and I am a veterinary technician who worked with him. She was the most genuine, caring person, always asking about my mom who lived at the same retirement home as her friend. Her interest was so sincere and she was so empathetic. When she asked me how I was doing she really wanted to know. I am so shocked and heartbroken. There is really no one like her. I want her family to know she touched many lives, including mine. I will miss her.

I knew Susan from our Thomas Merton Community 8:45 mass on Sundays and also at Stanford Health Care Spiritual Care. A wonderful person and one I considered a friend. I always appreciated her humor and frank, and often irreverent, opinions. She will truly be missed.
