Thomas D. Del Sarto

Thomas D. Del Sarto February 14, 1932 - August 6, 2006 The Peninsula has lost another fine athlete. Tom lost his lengthy battle to brain cancer on Sunday, August 6th at his home with his family. Tom was born in San Francisco to Lida and Oscar (the stork) Del Sarto and moved to Menlo Park in 1942. He signed with the San Francisco Seals as a left handed pitcher after he graduated from Sequoia High School in 1950. After retiring from the Seals he played semi-pro baseball until the late 1970's with the Palo Alto Oaks, San Mateo Blues and Ellisbrooks Clubs and he left with an impressive win record. He belonged to the Palo Alto Elks for 41 years and was a long time member of the Menlo Park Italian American Social Club. He was with the Menlo Park Postal Service for 31 years. He is survived by his wife for 44 years Lovey; mother Lida; three sons, Tommy and his wife Lauren, Rolly and his wife Angela and Rob and his wife Jeri; eight grandchildren, Diana, Erin, Robbie, Kerry, SheaMarie, Delaney, Rolly and Michael. He was loved, admired and respected by family and friends. He had a gentle soul that will be sorely missed. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 3:00PM, Thursday, Aug. 24th, The Church of the Nativity, 210 Oak Grove Road, Menlo Park.
