La PiƱata Burlingame was one of the most cherished memories of my life. My parents loved you and you spoiled me rotten, and gave me a love for Macaw parrots! Tell Pokey and Mystic I said hello. Bless

Tom was the gracious host who greeted me a hundred times
as I entertained customers in the 1970's at Duffy's and
Grazianos. He always visited my table to assure things were
going well. A smile and a kind word were just part of Tom.
Nice man. I lived in Burlingame and patronized La Pinanta
when he opened there and he always made us feel at home.

I Miss you Tom everyday of my life. I thank you for giving my the start I needed. You were the father I wished that I had but never got. Thank you for including me in your restaurant family and believing in me when I had no faith in myself. I will cherish our last phone conversation and the pictures of us on Halloween. The Holy water and the support you gave me as a fellow cancer survivor is a constant reminder to never give up. Love Suzanne

My late husband Gene Wright and I were very good friends of Tom Duffy back in his Graziano days and before. We frequently took dinner together and enjoyed a wonderful friendship for many years. Tom and Gene shared many interests and Gene photographed Tom's son when he was about 4 or 5 years old. Tom said he would present the photographs to his son on his 20th birthday. I am devastated by the loss of this wonderful human being. Tom was kind and generous with everyone. He will be missed sorely. Liz Wright, Walnut Creek

Tom - I will miss you! You so loved the restaurant business. Graziano's was just the best. Every day - interesting and first class foods. First time I ever even heard about pumpkin ravioli and then you added a bit of sage to the sauce, You were amazing because it was such a joy to you. I remember the fire & you loosing all the AR's & so few people paid but you just shrugged & moved forward. t was always a joy to watch your successes and even in passing - the Friendly Place in lieu of flowers - you just have so much class. Thank you for all of it.

I was sorry to learn of the passing of Tom. He and I went through grammar school together and lived in Eureka Valley growing up.
In fact, Tom was my first date after we graduated from grammar school.
He was a gentle soul, very smart, and had aspired to be in the restaurant business since a young boy.
He lived his dream.
My sympathy to his wife and family.
May he rest in peace.
Sincerely,
Gail (Powers) Sacco

We are so sorry to hear about your loss. The style and penache that Tom Duffy brought to a room was a standard to which all aspired and few ever achieved. The image of Tom greeting friends in the entry was of Grazianos is forever burned in my memory. He was a true friend to my father Carl and the rest of my family and we will always honor his memory.

Thomas was the last of the true gentlemen. Everything he did was with style, class and sophistication which personified his personality. He created an atmosphere that everyone wanted to be part of including Bonnie and I. He will always be remembered in our prayers.
Good bye my friend.

Tom was my mentor, great friend and one of the kindest, loving most honorable men I have ever met. His passion for people and his drive for life was contagious to all. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten. I have some amazing memories of times spent together which live on forever!

Tom Duffy was a legend in my household growing up. My dad, Joe Calleja, would tell us stories of their escapades as kids and teens together; the cars, the parties, the comaraderie. Along with their buddies, they kicked up a bit of dust in their time! Our whole family loved Tom for bringing such joy, laughter and memories forth through my dad's stories. Of course, whenever we saw him, he would light up the whole kitchen! Love to you, Robin, from the whole Calleja family.

My family and I are deeply saddened by your loss Robin. I considered Tom a friend and a great business mentor. I had the privelege to work with Tom during the days of Myth in SF. I will dearly miss our breakfast meetings together to catch up on things. We have all lost a great friend and a class gentleman.

My husband and I met Tom at Myth. He had the geat gift of makeing one feel as though they were the only important matter in the swirl of activity. His eyes always were a twinkle and there was some magic about him gliding around the room. I could tell the staff adored him -a great testament for anyone in the resterurant industry!
How lucky to have had him be in your lives and how very sad that such a wonderful spirit could not be tethered to this earthy realm a bit longer.
We are so deeply sorry for your great loss.

Robin, I am so sorry for your loss. The four years I worked for Tom at La Pinata made an impression on the way I work with my colleagues and how to be gracious with people. In a way it feels like losing a part of family. You are in my prayers and thoughts, and I pray that Tom is at peace.
