Thomas Everett
09/13/1957 - 06/01/2025
Thomas was born on September 13, 1957, the youngest of three children. He passed away unexpectedly on June 1, 2025 at the age of 67. He joins in heaven his father, Junius Everett and his mother, Bernita Everett. Tom will be missed by his brother John, sister-in-law Susan, niece Megan; and by his sister Theresa Crivello, nephews Nick and Vince. Cousins in California, Oregon, Iowa and Wisconsin will miss his "gentle soul".
Tom attended Holy Name of Jesus School and was a 1975 graduate of Sacred Heart Cathedral High School. He was a member of the Fightin' Irish Cross Country team and enjoyed participating in many long distance running events.
He was active for 22 years in the Holy Name Lay Canossians, a partnership between Ministry and Volunteers which his mother, Bernita Everett, helped establish at Holy Name in 1985. In addition, he served as a lector at St. Mary's Cathedral in San Francisco, Cathedral of Christ the Light in Oakland, Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fremont and beyond. Tom was extremely well versed in the teachings of the Catholic Church.
A proud native of San Francisco, Tom was a loyal fan of the Giants, the 49ers, the Warriors and the Valkyries! He was the family expert on sports; any question could be easily answered in depth. Tom was a talented and beautiful writer, even on a simple greeting card. You were blessed if you received a letter from him.
Tom had just proudly reached his 25th Anniversary at FedEx on May 31
which prompted his retirement. He was known as a kind and caring member of their work community and was much appreciated by co-workers young (mostly young!) and old. Some members of his FedEx family shared with us how much he was treasured which made it easier for us to accept his passing.
In June, Tom was looking forward to relocating to a retirement community in the greater Palm Springs area to live his retirement years near his brother and sister-in-law. Tom was loved and will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life for Tom will be held on his birthday, September 13, 2025 beginning with his Memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. followed by a reception. Holy Name of Jesus Church 1555 39th Avenue San Francisco 94122 (415) 664-8590.
Memorial Donations may be sent to Holy Name of Jesus Church and School.
