December 12, 1927 - January 14, 2023
Thomas J. Perlite, MD was born December 12, 1927 and died peacefully at home on January 14, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, of 69 years, Helen; their children, Thomas (Sheila), John deceased (Cheri), Mark (Teresa), and Paul (Jean); grandchildren, Mark (Theresa), Gina, Derek (Alyissa), Luke, John, Nicole and Jessica; great grandchildren, Gianna, Landin, Davin, Maya and Genevieve. A life-long San Franciscan, except for his medical training in St. Louis 1949-1957 and US NAVY, 1957-1959. An obstetrician and gynecologist at St. Mary's Medical Center for 54 years. He loved his garden and "growing things", playing golf, and spending time with his wife and family at Silver Lake in the Sierras and at Cazadero in the Russian River.
Preceded by his parents, John and Mabel Perlite; his brothers Rev. John, SJ and Rev. Paul, survived by his sister Angela.
Long time parishioner and volunteer at St. Stephen Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Sr. Mary Philippa Clinic at St. Mary's Medical Center, 2235 Hayes St. San Francisco 94117.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Stephen Catholic Church on Saturday, January 28 at 10AM, 601 Eucalyptus Dr. San Francisco, 94132. Thomas will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.

I liked and trusted Dr.Perlite so much! He delivered my two children at St. Mary's Medical Center in 1981 and 84. In July of 1981, Dr. Perlite had plans to go with his wife on an Alaska Cruise. I had a very long and hard labor, and he waited until the day of his trip to finally deliver my son. He could have easily left me in the hands of another doctor, however, he stuck it out with me until the end! I have never forgotten his kindness and perseverance.

Dear Helen, Tom, Mark, Paul and Family,
I just learned the news of Tom´s passing last night. Regrettably, I am unable to attend the funeral service. So many wonderful memories with your family. I miss you all and I will keep you in my prayers. Sending prayers of love and healing.

I was a parishioner in St. Stephen Parish for over 20 years. Tom and Helen were pillars of that community. Tom recruited me to be a lector at church. We saw each other often in those years --
at mass, at USF basketball games, and at St. Mary's
Medical Center. He delivered 6 of my nephews and 2 of my nieces. A great man with a great family that
had such a positive impact on so many. RIP Tom.
