Tom passed away in Oroville after a brief illness surrounded by his loving family. He leaves behind his companion of over 20 years, Nancy Kilmartin, and her family. He is also survived by his two sisters; Kathleen (Les) Casazza and their son Kevin, and Joan Winter and her husband Richard Handorf. He will be missed by his "boys" Jake and Rudy. He will be forever remembered as one of the guys that used to hang out on "the corner" while growing up in the outer Mission district of San Francisco. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

My cousin, who has known me all my life, whom my mother and I envied because you were a San Francisco native (of all her children, only John was born in the City), who had not just "Mad" magazines but also "Cracked" in his basement bedroom's library, and a mini-billiard table, yo, 'sup? You were always the coolest. You were the first person I ever heard say "back in the day " and I didn't hear it again for two years. Now its everywhere, everyday. A Harley that no dude ever rode on the back of and a hot rod, a boat at Lake Oroville, friends for a lifetime, (a cousin without a neck), Remember all our dogs the dalmations Pal and Sugar, who had 12 puppies when we lived in San Mateo? The Airedales, Maggie, and Lady who loved to chase rocks and sticks in the Feather river? All those hours in the checkstand at Lucky? Men's weekends! PG&E family camp. (Lake Union Utica?)
You always looked good, man.

I didn't know Tom, but his sister Joan is one of my very dearest friends, in her name I offer my deepest condolences to all those who knew and loved Tom. Such a delightful smile and aura he had. To all, be kind to yourselves in your grief, and remember that the depth of the grief is truly a reflection of the depth of the love shared.
