Tony Urrea Obituary

Tony "Surreal" Urrea
October 14, 1941 - January 29, 2024
Antonio Joseph (aka Tony Surreal) Urrea, passed away peacefully at home in San Francisco surrounded by his family at the age of 82.
Tony was born and raised in San Francisco to Antonio Jesús Urrea and Wanda Metz. He went to Balboa High School (classmate of Jerry Garcia) and worked as a gardener for the city, even living in the house now known as the Trocadero Clubhouse in Stern Grove for a short time.
A proud Native Son and Catholic of San Francisco, Tony loved the coast, golf courses, a friendly game of croquet, and sports cars, proudly owning his own vintage Corvettes, Chrysler Crossfire, and even a Yugo. An eternally gracious host, he enjoyed preparing bacon-filled waffles for Christmas morning guests as well as sharing his interests and trinkets.
Loving the rock and roll music lifestyle, Tony was a part of the Family Dog and worked as the Hospitality Director for the Maritime Hall. His gracious hospitality continued on as he supported the non-profit that his wife Vicki founded, The Children's Book Project, for many years as the book hauler and goodwill ambassador.
He is survived by his loving wife, Vicki Pollack (who called him "the best travel companion"); his children, Kimberly, Nicholas, and Melanie; and his four grandchildren, Talia, Ryan, Summer, and Mia. A beloved family member and truly entertaining character, Tony will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.

I went all through high school with Tony and we used to hang out even after high school as grown adults we used to go up to my cabin up in Lake County for the summer. We took his 62 Corvette up there. I remember one time on the black point cut off that long stretch of Highway we had that 62 Corvette of his, going 135 miles an hour when the 63 Corvettes came out he traded it in and got one we drove around in that car. I used to help him work on his Corvettes. I saw his daughter Kimberly time in North Beach while I was working for the police department on my motorcycle. I asked how he was doing that was over 30 years ago. I never saw him or heard from him since then my condolences to the family.
