Vincent Guerena Obituary

Vincent Guerena
December 16, 1946 - May 24, 2022
Vincent quietly passed away on May 24, 2022 at his residence in San Francisco, CA. He was 75 years old.
Vincent leaves behind two sisters, Kathryn Guerena Frame and Janice Guerena, whom he adored. He also leaves behind his two nieces, Rebecca Gray and Jessica Frame, and two great nephews, Gavin and Hunter Gray and brother-in-law Gary Frame. His beloved mother, Rose Guerena and sister Christine Guerena preceded him in death.
Vince also leaves behind his girlfriend of many years, Carol Walls and many friends from his various endeavors and associations during his lifetime; all admired his mannerisms and kindness.
Vincent had many areas of enjoyment. He learned to play the clarinet in Junior High and as a student in Lincoln High School.
He played in the band in both schools and even joined the Southern Pacific band to play at various county fairs. He belonged to the Boy Scouts of America as a scout and later as a leader.
His work began at Fillmore Glass & Hardware store in San Francisco while he was still in high school and continued for several years after graduating; he loved his time there, and eventually became the buyer for the business.
Later, he was introduced to Local Union 38 in San Francisco and became a Journeyman Plumber. He spent most of his career working for the city of San Francisco's Recreation and Park Department, maintaining all the facilities there. He most enjoyed working every summer at Camp Mather, located in the Sierras, where he maintained the facilities for the family camp. This afforded him the great pleasure of going fishing in the many lakes and streams there, his favorite passion.
Vincent had many health issues but managed to work until his retirement and enjoyed some well-deserved leisure time.
His family and many friends will sorely miss him. Next time you are out fishing, look up, give him a wink and say hi.
On June 16, 2022, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Basque Cultural Center, 599 Railroad Avenue, South San Francisco, CA, starting at 11:30 a.m.

The Mather family has lost one of its best. You were a prince. A lovable character who cared deeply about the camp, about us and the guests. May you have a fine steady hand in heaven.
