Warren Clarke Obituary
The Independent Talent Group said in a statement that Clarke died after a brief illness.
"He will be greatly missed by his family and loved ones," the agency said.
Clarke had a long, varied career, performing on the popular British soap "Coronation Street" in the late 1960s and as an ultraviolent "droog" in Stanley Kubrick's provocative "A Clockwork Orange."
He was prominent on television for many years as gruff Det. Supt. Andy Dalziel in the "Dalziel and Pascoe" series that ran for 12 years.
Clarke was raised in Lancashire in northwest England and considered himself lucky to have achieved success on screen.
He told the Daily Mail in 2011 that he had worked "through the tough times as well as the good times" and that his wife had once sold her engagement ring so they could buy food.
Clarke had remained active. The last role he had finished was in a BBC revival of the 1970s drama "Poldark."

Am trying to re watch Dalziel and Pascoe as it was brilliant, but I'm finding it hard knowing Warren Clarke has passed away. I know it's been a while but it's just so sad. He seemed a lovely man. He won't be forgotten.

I went school with this lovely guy between the ages of 11 to 16. I met up with him a few months ago at a Manchester City FC game where we reminisced about old friends and old times. We played in the same football team and spoke about the characters he played in school productions where he obviously shone. God Bless you pal and all your family RIP

Just a note from a fan....
I always enjoyed his acting in series and comedies. He seemed to be too young to go. I am sure he had a lot of characters and roles left to entertain us.

i worked with warren in manchester,in the 60s,in a non acting profession,we drank tea,and played cards together,whilst he did his tommy coper impression,i was 16,warren was 20,he the left,when he landed a part,in a clockwork orange,so sad,a great and funny guy, phil pye manchester.

It's interesting to learn a little bit of his life. When you look at Warren Clarke, you look an elegant men, who seems successful, and his life is fully complete... but, in real life, his success didn't come to him, he worked hard his way to success, and that's what I admire of him... as well as the support he received from his wife... truly sad moments like this one, brings emotional pain to the heart... May our Heavenly Father strengthen the family and close friends to deal with their grief...

I'll never forget Warren Clarke as "Dim" in A Clockwork Orange and in many other roles. He always dominated the scenes in which he appeared.
