Wayne Campbell Obituary

Wayne Campbell
04/01/1929 - 06/28/2025
Dr. Wayne Campbell died peacefully at home in Novato, California. Born in Eyota, Minnesota, the youngest of three children born to Gayl and Frank "Ted" Campbell. Wayne was raised in small towns throughout Minnesota and Iowa. He was an Eagle Scout and an accomplished clarinet player. He graduated from Hamline University in St. Paul Minnesota, summa cum laude. Wayne earned his Medical Degree from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. He completed his residency in Sacramento, California, before serving in the United States Army in San Pedro, California. It was on the Dipsy Doodle chairlift in Aspen, Colorado that he met his wife of 66 years, Marie "Cherie" Jova. They were married October 24, 1959 in Roseton, New York and established their home in Waseca, Minnesota, where Wayne started his medical practice and welcomed four children. In January 1965, the family drove to Novato, California where Wayne opened a family practice on Hill Road next to Novato Community Hospital. Wayne and Cherie were founding members of St. Anthony of Padua Church and welcomed their youngest son, Gregory in 1968. Wayne retired from medicine in 1996 and was blessed with many years to travel, play golf at Marin Country Club, enjoy the company of his loving family and close friends, and generously share his sage advice and dry wit. His legacy includes eight grandchildren who all enjoy the ski slopes. Gregory preceded Wayne in death. He is survived by Cherie and Gabrielle Campbell; Doug, Angela, Jack, Catie, and Grace Hood; Leigh, Maryann, Evan, and Megan Campbell; Tom, Michelle, Nicole, Lauren, and Claire Graziano.
