Bill Segale, son of William & Mary Segale passed away at the age of 83 on April 27, 2024. Bill was a proud graduate of Archbishop Riordan High School (Class of '58) where he helped establish the Segale Family Scholarship. After high school, Bill joined the U.S. Army Reserve in 1958. Bill then worked for the City of San Francisco at Ingleside Police Station where he retired after 30+years. Bill was very active in sports. In his younger years, he roller skated, played baseball & basketball. He loved the S.F. Giants, S.F. 49ers, and Golden State Warriors, being that he is a San Francisco Native and grew up in Noe Valley on Army & Church Street. He attended St. Paul's elementary school (K-8th) and his kids (Mary, John & Kimberly) also attended St. Paul's where he was their 1st basketball coach and attended every sports game that they ever played. He later coached the girls JV basketball and girls Varsity softball at Wallenberg High School from 1995 - 2007.
Bill was a life-long member of St. Paul's Parish and a 65-year member and officer of the Native Sons of the Golden West (Parlor #157) and the Italian Catholic Federation (Branch #209) until his death. He also loved playing Bocce ball and was in the league at St. Sebastian in Sebastopol. Bill loved making pasta & lasagna for the family and made a special meat sauce which we all loved. Every fall, he carried on the family tradition of wine making with his brothers (Lou & Bob). Each year, he brought a truck full of grapes down and made wine with his brothers to keep the Segale tradition alive.
Bill was predeceased by his brother Louis Segale. Bill is survived by his wife Judy; His brother Robert (Jean) Segale. His daughters, Mary & Kimberly Segale; son, John (Diana) Segale; He is Nonno (grandfather) to Demitrius Segale, Brighton Sohn, Adelina Lafayette & Ariosa Segale. Step kids: Frank (Nancy) Warren, Sean (Debbie) Warren, Cynthia (Greg) Gonsalves-Mackie & Timothy Warren.
Bill was always someone you can count on and very punctual. He would always speak the truth and if you knew him well, you got a wise-crack or two that would make you laugh. He will be forever missed. We love you dad! We love you Nonno!
