Wilma Krueger Obituary
Wilma Krueger
05/30/1929 - 03/02/2025
Loving mother, grandmother, sister, mother-in-law, and friend, Wilma Wolfsohn Krueger passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025, after a brief illness.
Wilma was a very proud native of San Francisco. She loved "The City," and sternly reprimanded anyone who had the ignorance or temerity to call it "'Frisco" or "San Fran."
She was born May 30, 1929, at the old Stanford Hospital on Clay and Webster Street. Her father was Fred Wolfsohn, an orthodontist; her mother was Flora Marx Wolfsohn, a homemaker and active civic volunteer
Wilma and her younger sister Gail grew up on Florence Street in Russian Hill. Wilma graduated from the Grant School and the Dominican Convent in San Rafael, where she made life-long friends.
She majored in psychology at Texas College for Women and returned to San Francisco, where she married Clifford Krueger, an attorney. Wilma and Cliff had two sons, Paul and Mark. After their divorce, Wilma returned to work as a "bank-by-mail" specialist at Wells Fargo Bank on Grant Avenue, and later as a receptionist and secretary at a downtown law firm.
Wilma lived most of her adult life in the Richmond District. She enjoyed good friendships, good food (Alfred's, Grison's, Original Joe's, Bill's Place on Clement St., Eliza's), travel (Australia, Canada, Europe, Mexico), raunchy jokes, and Chinese opera on TV (though she of course didn't understand a word of it).
In 2004, she made her last and best change of address, moving to the Sequoias Senior Living facility in Japantown. Wilma made many great friends at the Sequoias, including residents and staff.
A highlight of Wilma's later life was the 1995 birth of her grandson, William. She was a very loving grandmother who never missed an opportunity brag about her grandson. She was over the moon that she lived long enough to watch a video of Will's graduation from Yale Law School, Class of 2024.
Wilma's family thanks her friends and all the Sequoia staffers who kept her smiling during her final months. She also benefited immensely from the competent, dedicated, and very compassionate care provided by Medvista Healthcare Hospice and her loving caregivers.
Wilma is survived by sons Paul of San Diego and Mark of New York and London; daughter-in-law Margaret Bouher; grandson William Krueger of St Louis; and sister Gail Wood of "The City."
